Eleanor and other names
Listening to the radio and I heard this song entitled "Eleanor" by Low Millions. It's a nice song, and I like the name too: Eleanor. It sounds pretty don't you think? It's not the kind of name you hear too often nowadays and it's got a nice ring to it.
Hey! That gives me a good meme idea. If or when you get kids, what names will you want to give him/her? Why don't you list down your top 5 for both boys and girls? :) Here, let me start mine off... Um, I'll start with the girl names. I find it easier somehow, hehe!
Girl:
1) Daphne - means "laurel tree" in Greek. I've got this family friend whose called Daphne and ever since I've found it to be such a nice-sounding unique name.
2) Naomi - Hebrew for "beautiful and gentle". Something about all the long vowels that makes the name so nice to say: "Nay-owe-mee!" hahaha!
3) Chloe - Greek: "verdant and blooming". Hmmmm... Once again... something about long vowels...
4) Nicole - French, means "victory to the people"?? Um... yeah... Well I just thought it sounded nice. That and it reminds me of Nicole Hernandez. Nuff said.
5) Iris - Greek for "colorful" or "Rainbow". I really thought it refered to the flower.
One thing I realized about Filipino-Chinese guys, our names are all very American (i.e. Michael, Richard, James, John, etc.). Or that they'd have "son" at the end (i.e. Michaelson, Richardson, Jameson, Johnson, etc.). Anyway, I wanted strong manly names. Something like:
1) William - English for "Willhelm" or "Will+Helmet". Trouble with William is when it gets paired up with my last name "King Li". He might sound too much like royalty...
2) Dylan - Welsh for "son of the sea". Hmmm... Lianne wanted to name her kid Jakob after Jakob Dylan of the Wallflowers (bakit kaya? hehehe!), wonder if she'd settle for Dylan instead?
3) Caleb - It's Hebrew for "dog". Doesn't sound nice but the Bible version's much better. He's this 80 year old general who goes to fight giants off of Mt. Hebron. Why? 'Cause he's claiming that mountain for his own that's why. Cool ey?
4) Ethan - Hebrew for "firmness and steadfastness". Nice name, especially if you compare the name to Ethan Hawke and Mission Impossible's Ethan Hunt.
5) Gavin - English for "White hawk". I dunno, I ran out of names to give and then Gavin Rossdale played on my Ipod. Hehehe!
Ey guys! Put yours in your blog ayt? Ayt!
